A native of Princess Anne County, he had lived in Norfolk most of his life. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Elizabeth Anderson Ackiss and son of William H. and Mrs. Mary Ann Seneca Ackiss, Sr. He was a member of Freemason Street Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Robert W. Shaner, of Greensboro, N.C.; one son, Harrison S. Ackiss, Jr., of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. J. Fred Andrews, of Richmond and Mrs. Sallie L. Braithaite, of Norfolk; two brothers, Caleb L. Ackiss, of Boston, Mass. and Capt. E.L. Ackiss, CHC, USN, (Retired) of Atlanta, Ga.; one grandson, Lt. James H. Ackiss, USN, of San Diego, Calif., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the Cox Funeral Home tomorrow at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Harold Malmborg, pastor of Freemason Street Baptist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
