She was born the third of nine children to the late Dockery Lambert Sr. and Beulah Rouse Lambert Dec. 28, 1922. A native of Norfolk, she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1940, attended Norfolk State College and married the late William Adams Sr. in 1947. She later received a nursing license and served as a licensed practical nurse for several years. She was full of kindness and never knew a stranger. As a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Norfolk, she witnessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior with gladness. Naomi Adams, or "Little Sister" as she was lovingly called by her siblings, was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Melvin Lambert Sr., Dockery Lambert Jr. and Calvin Lambert Sr.; three sisters, Ruth Brown, Beulah White and Queenie Branch; two sons, William Adams Jr. and Dockery Adams. She is survived by her brother, Alexander Lambert; sister, Lena Siler; daughters, Naomi Spalding, Missy B. Epperson (Reginald) and Pendula Cooke (Stevie); eight grandchildren, five great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews who all endeared her as Mother Dear or Ma Dea'. Many other friends and family will cherish her memory as well. A celebration of life ceremony will take place in Shiloh Baptist Church, 745 Park Ave., Norfolk, at noon Monday with the Rev. R.L Davenport Sr. presiding. The family will receive friends Monday at the church from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Walton Funeral Home.
