Virginian-Pilot  September 20, 1967
Mrs. Gertrude Smith Adams, 68, of 230 E. Gilpin Ave., the wife of retired Police 
Sgt. Phillip W. Adams and a daughter of Henry Joseph and Mrs. Elizabeth Henderson 
Smith, died in a hospital Monday night.
A native of New York, she lived here most of her life.  She was a member of Holy 
Trinity Catholic Church.
Her husband is her only survivor.
The body will be taken from the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home to Holy Trinity 
Catholic Church for a Requiem Mass Thursday at 10 a.m.  Burial will be in St. 
Mary's Catholic Cemetery.  The Office of the Dead will be recited in the funeral 
home tonight at 7:30.
