Mrs. Adams was a current member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and was a longtime member of Colonial Avenue United Methodist Church, a Sunday School teacher, and active member of numerous committees of the church. She is survived by Winford and Kay Smith and a host of other close friends. She held a B.A. degree from Randolph-Macon College and a M.Ed. degree from the College of William and Mary. She retired from the Norfolk Public Schools in 1972 after 38 years as a mathematics teacher and counselor. At the time of her retirement, she was head of the Guidance Department of Granby High School. Mrs. Adams was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Kappa Delta Pi and Delta Kappa Gamma honorary fraternities. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bill Amon. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wesley Memorial Welfare Fund.
