He retired at the age of 60 from Dominion Virginia Power after 38 years of loyal service. For 20 years following retirement he was an active golfer playing daily at Lake Wright or Ocean View Golf Course. His service in the US Marine Corps brought him from his hometown of Huntington, West Virginia to Norfolk where he met Nancy Ann Stokley, the love of his life. Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 61 years, Nancy, who he fondly called "his bride"; his loving daughters, Kathy Eisenhower (James "Ike" Eisenhower) and Karen Adkins Logan. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Shelby Eisenhower Neal (Christopher), Sara Logan and Ian Logan and again doubly blessed by twin great granddaughters, Kenzie Ann Neal and Avery Kate Neal. Daryl is also survived by his sister, Amy Swisher, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Bertie Adkins, his sister, Deloris Adkins Myers all of South Point, Ohio and his brother-in-law, William M. Stokley of Norfolk, Virginia. The family would like to thank Sentara Hospice and the following caregivers for their loving companionship and care; Christy, Annette, Mary S., Mary L., Julie, Celeste, Irene and Becky's Helping Hands. A memorial service is scheduled for November 27, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home on Tidewater Drive, Norfolk, VA. The family will receive visitors at 1:00 pm prior to the service. A reception to celebrate Daryl's life will follow the service at the Chesapeake Athletic Club at 3544 Argonne Avenue, Norfolk, VA 23509.
