Maria-Corazon D. Ala, 49, a physician and former medical director of the Norfolk Public Health Service Hospital, died Saturday in a hospital. A native of the Philippines, she was the wife of Ismael B. Ala and a daughter of Plautila Andanar. Dr. Ala, a senior surgeon, had received a citation while serving as chief medical officer at the McCoy, Wis., Public Health Service Facility and also held the health service's special assignment service ribbon. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Other survivors include a son, Nelson C. Ala, of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Sister Revi Dumol, of Rome, Edith Pagdanganan, of Virginia Beach and Baby Jose of the Philippines; and two brothers, Willie Dumol and Albert Dumol, of the Philippines. A funeral Mass will be offered at 7:30 p.m. today in St. Pius X Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. A prayer service will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in the church.
