He was stricken with a heart attack and died in a short time with several friends from Norfolk at his side. His son, James A. Albano, who was aboard the Coast Guard vessel in Chesapeake Bay, was notified by wireless and the Coast Guard dispatched the boat to Baltimore to land him. Mr. Albano was apparently in good health when he left Norfolk on Sunday and attended a lecture in Baltimore by the Rev. Father Flannagan, of Boys Town fame. Born in Italy, he came to Norfolk when he was only nine years. He engaged in a number of business enterprises, at one time owning and operating pool rooms and restaurants in Norfolk, Richmond and Petersburg. He established several of Norfolk's restaurants and at the time of his death was interested in one at Ocean View, another at Virginia Beach and one in Norfolk proper. In former years he delved heavily in real estate and took an active part in politics. He was closely associated with the late James V. Trehy, who for many years was clerk of the courts and the recognized leader of the so called Democratic organization here. "Nick" Albano, as he was called by his friends, had the reputation of being always ready to help a friend and gave freely of his money in aiding individuals through financial difficulties. He also contributed to religious and welfare organizations. His wife died about three years ago and his friends say that he never recovered from the shock caused by her death. He was the son of the late Antonio Albano and Mrs. Anne Mazzei Albano. In addition to his son, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Flacomio, of Virginia Beach; Mrs. Nat Novello and Miss Mary Albano, of Norfolk and three brothers, Michael Albano, Charles C. Albano and Louis Albano, all of Norfolk. He resided at 415 Mayflower Drive. The body will arrive this morning from Baltimore and will be taken to the H.D. Oliver's Funeral Apartments in Colonial Avenue. Rosary services will be held there tomorrow night at 8 o'clock and funeral service will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. *************************************************************************** Albano, Nicholas - At Baltimore, Md., Tuesday, November 20, 1945, at 3 o'clock a.m., Nicholas, son of the late Antonio and Mrs. Anna Mazzei Albano, died in the 69th year of his age.
