Edward Harry Alderman, 70, of 6094 Clearspring Road, the husband of Mrs. Gladys 
Vezina Alderman and a native of Burlington, Vt., died Thursday at 5:45 a.m. in a 
Norfolk hospital.
He lived here 23 years and retired this year from Birtcherd Dairy as a 
refrigerator engineer after 21 years.  He attended St. Matthew's Catholic Church.
Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. Rhoda Charboneau Alderman, of 
Schenectady, N.Y.; a daughter, Mrs. Beverly A. Lichtman, of Virginia Beach; two 
sons, Edward H. Alderman, Jr., of Chesapeake and Donald K. Alderman, of 
Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Viola Brennan of Schenectady; a brother, Earl Alderman, 
of Bennington, Vt.; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A Christian Wake service will be held tonight at 7:30 in Hollomon-Brown Funeral 
Home, Indian River Chapel.  A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in 
St. Matthew's Catholic Church by the Rev. Fr. James Guttendorff.  Burial will be 
in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
The family asks that flowers be omitted and memorial donations sent to the 
Tidewater Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
