Mrs. Aldridge, born in Pottstown, Pa., July 6, 1918, lived her life enjoying her greatest loves - her children, religion, and nursing. Following her graduation as a registered nurse from the Bryn Mawr School of Nursing, she entered the Army Nurse Corps in World War II. Mrs. Aldridge and her husband, John W. Aldridge, deceased, moved to Greenville, N.C., in 1955, where they raised their six children. During that time, she was a nurse on the surgical floors at Pitt County Memorial Hospital and was an active parishioner in St. Peter's Catholic Church. She later returned to Pottstown and retired as a registered nurse from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. After her retirement, Mrs. Aldridge moved to Virginia Beach to be closer to her children. She was a supporter of numerous charities and a volunteer at the Church of the Ascension. She is survived by her children, John W. Aldridge Jr. and Patricia A. Currin of Virginia Beach, Dianne Stolberg of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Michelle Singh of Jackson, Tenn., Marvin M. Aldridge of Chesapeake, and Michael R. Aldridge of Norfolk. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Alisa C. Vidal, Jon Aldridge, Chris Aldridge, Patrick Aldridge, Matthew Currin, Ryan Currin, Chad Aldridge, Chelsea Aldridge, Ashlee Aldridge, Nicholas Aldridge, Devin Baggett and Gregory Stolberg; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church on Friday at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, today from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
