NORFOLK - James Daniel Alexander Jr., 73, of 1353 Surry Crescent, former 
president and owner of Home Laundry & Dry Cleaning, Inc., and a Norfolk native, 
died Friday at 5 a.m. in a hospital.
He was the husband of the late Mrs. Nita Cofer Alexander.
He was a former vice president of the 21st Street Businessman’s Association and 
was a Baptist.
Survivors include a son, James D. Alexander III, a sister, Mrs. Winona 
Humphries, and a brother, Hugh C. Alexander, all of Virginia Beach; and six step 
grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 
Indian River Chapel, by the Rev. Melvin L. Steadman, with burial in Elmwood 
Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 and also at 
the son’s home, 6112 Level Green Court, Virginia Beach.
