Norfolk Journal and Guide, Feb 18,1961
A funeral service was held Sunday at St. Mark Congregational Christian Church 
for James Garfield Alexander, a plasterer, of 403 Craig street, who died Feb. 8 
in a Petersburg hospital.

A native of Statesville, NC, Mr. Alexander was the son of the late George 
Alexander and Mrs. Rosie Alexander.

His rites were conducted by the Rev. D. P. Butts, St. Mark pastor.  Burial was 
in Calvary Cemetery under direction of Moore Funeral Service.

Mr. Alexander is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lula Reed of Statesville and Mrs. 
Betty Williams of Norfolk.
