Virginian Pilot July 7, 1908

Mrs. Mattie Estelle Alexander, aged 23 years, died yesterday morning at 1 
o'clock at St. Vincent's Hospital after a brief illness.  She was operated 
on last Friday.
She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Thomas of 805 Lee Street.  Her 
mother is in Petersburg and her sister, Miss Elizabeth Thomas, is in 
Roanoke.
The funeral will take place from the residence Wednesday afternoon.

The funeral of the late Mrs. M.E. Alexander, who died at St. Vincent's 
Hospital, took place at the family residence, 805 Lee Street, yesterday 
afternoon.
Rev. W.A. Smith, pastor of Berkley Avenue Baptist Church, officiated.  
Interment was in Magnolia Cemetery.
