NORFOLK - Mrs. Evelyn B. Alexander of 484 E. Brambleton Ave. died Tuesday in a 
hospital after a long illness.

A native of Surry County, she was the widow of John Alexander and a daughter of 
Pleasant and Mrs. Luberta Flowers Burrell.

She was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church and its choir. She was a member 
of Lily of the Valley Tents 4, Independent Order of Good Samaritans, and Ruth 
Lodge 61.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Estelle Saunders of Surry County; two brothers, 
Joseph Burrell of Surry County and Harold Burrell of Washington; five sisters, 
Mrs. Velma Martin of Norfolk, Mrs. Constella Harris of Durham, N.C., Mrs. Minnie 
White of Mount Vernon, N.Y., and Mrs. Clifton Pierce and Mrs. Ophelia Anderson 
of Surry County; and four grandchildren

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in New Calvary Baptist Church 
by the Rev. Miton A. Reid. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetry with Hale Funeral 
Home in charge.
