Selera lived a vibrant and multifaceted life, embracing her faith, family, and passions with boundless energy. She loved God deeply and found joy in music, the color red, shopping, and sharing her wealth of knowledge with others. A “Jill of Many Trades,” Selera had an impressive career in the medical field, serving in roles such as EMT, nurse, hospital administrator, and instructor. Her dedication to helping others extended beyond healthcare; she also worked for many years as a tax professional. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Leroy Harris and Selara Brodie Harris; her brothers Hamin Sultan Ali, Reginald Hodges, and Leroy Harris Jr.; her sisters Louise Johnson, Alice Smith, and Carol Gamble; her sons Derrick Alexander and Kevin Bobbitt. Their memories remained close to Selera’s heart throughout her life. Selera’s enduring legacy lives on through her children Elton and Kizzy Harris, Leander and Leitonia Harris, Selera and Odell Odom, Davida Alexander, Lakisi Alexander and DeJuan Brown, Heather Wilson, Kenneth and Donna Alexander; and her siblings Haywood Harris, Jeffrey Harris, Irvin Harris, Clarence Harris, and Barbara McDonald. She was blessed with over 25 grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life and a host of great-grandchildren who were a source of pride. Her extended family includes numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives she touched with kindness, wisdom and unwavering faith. Selera’s life was one of love and devotion to those around her. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.
