The Virginian-Pilot, Thursday, June 29, 1961

NORFOLK - George Alford, 49, died Monday at 5:30 a.m. at his home, 514 Clay Ave.

Son of Charlie and Donella Alford, he was an Anderson, S.C. native, had been 
here 13 years, and was a member of pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Darlington, 
S.C. He was employed by Sandlers Fish Co. seven years.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Cleao Alford, and a sister, Mrs. Josephine Joe of 
Charleston, S.C.

A funeral service will be conducted in Hale Funeral Home Sunday at 2:30 p.m. by 
the Rev. Frank P. Wise of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church with burial in Betty Jones 
Cemetery.

Additional Comments:
Death certificate also indicates burial in Jones Memorial Cemetery, but burial 
record reflects Calvary Cemetery.
