NORFOLK - Jessie Mae Allen, 97, passed quietly and peacefully into eternal rest
on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010 at Envoy at Thornton Hall Nursing facility.
She was a native of Woodsville, N.C., and the daughter of the late Jessie Perry
and Hattie Perry Briggs. She was the widow of the late Lewis P. Allen. Mrs.
Allen was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church, and past leader of Vernice
Tents No. 500.
She is survived by a brother, Joseph Briggs (Gloria) of Chesapeake; a
stepsister, Susie B. Walker of Suffolk, and a host of nieces, nephews, other
relatives, extended family and friends.
A funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m. at First Calvary Baptist
Church, 813 Henry St., Norfolk, with the Rev. Charles Springs presiding.
Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Hale Funeral Home is in charge.
