Virginian-Pilot February 13, 1903
Two bodies were buried by the city health department yesterday, that of J. T. 
Allen, alias R. H.(sic) Hunter, the murdered man, and that of Giacomo Gatto, the 
Italian suicide.
Over Allen’s body, a service was held at Mr. H. D. Oliver’s funeral establishment 
at 2.30 o’clock yesterday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. B. Merritt, Seamen’s 
chaplain, and the interment was at the strangers’ lot at Elmwood.
Gatto’s body, not having been claimed by relatives or friends, was turned over to 
the cemetery authorities and it was laid to rest also in Elmwood.
