ALLEN, in the 68th year of his age. The funeral will take place TOMORROW (Friday) AFTERNOON, September 6th, at 5 o'clock, from the residence. Friends of the family respectfully invited to attend. ******************************************************************************** William H. Allen died at his home, No. 26, Avenue C, Huntersville, at 9 o'clock Wednesday night, after an illness of nearly eight months, in the 68th year of his age. The deceased was at one time employed in the Norfolk Navy Yard. He was a member of Atlantic Lodge of Masons and the Grand Army of the Republic and was well known and highly esteemed in this city and Portsmouth. He is survived by a widow and a daughter, Mrs. Sarah Hodges, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Pullen. The funeral will be held from his late residence at 5 o'clock this afternoon and will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. C.S. Blackwell, of the First Baptist Church. Allen was held from his late residence, 26 Avenue C, Huntersville, at 5 o'clock p.m. yesterday and was largely attended, including delegations from Atlantic Lodge of Masons and the Grand Army of the Republic of which organizations the deceased was a member. There was a profusion of floral tributes. The service was conducted by Rev. Dr. C.S. Blackwell of the First Baptist Church. The remains were laid to rest in Elmwood.
