Mr. Allen was born in Princess Anne County. He had owned and operated A & B Barbecue on Virginia Beach Boulevard for 12 years. He was a founder and past president of Princess Anne Little League and had also coached and managed in the league. He was named Virginia Beach Sportsman of the Year for 1963. He was also a past president of Lynnhaven Pony and Colt leagues. He was a Army veteran of World War II and was the widower of Thelma Carey Allen. Survivors include two daughters, Anne A. Miller and Martha A. Hartsell, both of Virginia Beach; a son, William B. Allen Jr. of Hollywood, Fla.; five sisters, Margarite DeFord and Edith Walker, both of Whittier, Calif., and Dorothy Marshall, Ellen Wagner and Joyce Caughorn, all of Virginia Beach; three brothers, Kenneth Allen, Lankford Allen and Russell Allen, all of Virginia Beach; and four grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Kempsville Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Andrew D. Jackson. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kepmsville Chapel, and after the services at the home of Anne A. Miller.
