Virginian-Pilot, December 29, 1910
Samuel H. D. Allen, a well-known citizen of Norfolk, and for twenty years a 
member of the Norfolk police department, up to 1903, died yesterday afternoon 
at 6 o'clock in the fifty-fifth year of his age, after an illness of several 
months.
He is survived by a widow and four children, Samuel H., Joseph M., Wm. T. and M
Mrs. E. A. Cuddy, all of this city.
The funeral will take place from the family residence, No. 52 Virginia Street, 
Friday morning at 10 o'clock.
