Allen, a well known citizen of Norfolk and for twenty years a member of the Norfolk police department, up to 1903, died yesterday afternoon at 6 o'clock in the fifty-fifth year of his age, after an illness of several months. He is survived by a widow and four children, Samuel H., Joseph M., Wm. T and Mrs. E.A. Cuddy, all of this city. The funeral will take place from the family residence, No. 52 Virginia Street, Friday morning at 10 o'clock. ************************************************************************* The funeral of Samuel H.D. Allen, a former member of the Norfolk police force, was held from his late residence, Virginia Street, at 10 o'clock a.m. yesterday. The service was conducted by Rev. Dr. Joseph Rennie, of the First Presbyterian Church and Rev. R. Finley Gayle, of the Cumberland Street M.E. Church. The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery. Following were the pallbearers: Captain Eirich, Richard Lozier, William Williamson, William Strawhand, Walter Edwards, Cornelius Lee.
