Virginian Piot and The Norfolk Landmark September 25, 1931

Mrs. Mary Russell Allyn, aged 87, widow of Joseph Tyler Allyn and daughter of 
the late Russell and Mary Elizabeth Herman Bell, died at the residence of her 
son, Herman A. Allyn, One Hundred and Fifteenth Street, Virginia Beach, last 
night at 605 o'clock. Mrs. Allyn was a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk. 
Surviving her are three daughters, Mrs. George Mason Dillard, of Scottsville, 
Albemarle County; Mrs. M.R. Page Lee, of Berryville and Mrs. Nathaniel Cole 
Harrison, of Atlanta, Ga,; one son, Herman A. Allyn, of Norfolk and eight 
grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

ALLYN, MARY RUSSELL - At the residence of her son, Herman A. Allyn, 115th 
street, Virginia Beach, Va., Thursday, September 24th, 1931, at 6:05 o’clock 
p.m., MARY RUSSELL, widow of Joseph Tyler Allyn, and daughter of the late 
Russell and Mary Elizabeth Herman Bell, in the 88th year of her age.
Funeral services at the residence, No. 532 Warren Crescent (Norfolk, Va.), THIS 
(Saturday) AFTERNOON at 4:30 o’clock. Friends of the family are invited to 
attend. 
Interment, Elmwood Cemetery.
