Inquest To Be Held Monday in Death of Popular Policeman. Michael Aloisio, popular young police officer, died yesterday morning at St. Vincent's Hospital without regaining full consciousness since the night of May 14, when his motorcycle was in a collision with a taxicab at the intersection of Monticello Avenue and Freemason Street. The driver of the cab, L. C. Inelow, 26, already facing a charge of assault with an automobile, will be given a hearing in Police Court later in the week on a technical charge of manslaughter. The inquest will be held next Tuesday. Aloisio, who was 28 years of age, would have completed a year's service in the police division today. He was appointed as a substitute patrolman, regular, January 1. The accident occurred in line of duty as Aloisio and a fellow officer, V. H. James, were pursuing a speeding motorist on Monticello Avenue. Aloisio's machine struck the right front end of the cab, which was traveling west on Freemason Street. James, who was riding a few feet in the rear of the victim, narrowly escaped hitting the cab. Immediately after word of Aloisio's death reached police headquarters, the flag atop the building was placed at half-staff and will remain so until after the funeral. Highly regarded by his fellow officers, he had gained the confidence of his superiors and was recognized as one of the most efficient members of the division. In addition to his father, Charles Aloisio, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence Joynes Aloisio, and four sisters, Mrs. E. S. Jones, Misses Ellen and Kathryn Aloisio and Mrs. L. H. Dupree, and several nieces and nephews, all of Norfolk. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the chapel of the H. D. Funeral Apartments, with the Rev. Leo J. Ryan, S. T. D., pastor of the Blessed Sacrament Church, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
