Alston of 836 Maltby Ave., a native of Jackson, N.C., died Friday in a hospital. He was a retired 30-year employee of Norfolk Naval Air Station and was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church and the Male Usher Board. Survivors include a daughter, Anita A. Thomas of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Harriet A. Reid of Norfolk and Cheroxie Francis of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a brother, George T. Alston of Richmond; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in First Calvary Baptist Church by Dr. Johnnie L. White. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A Christian wake service will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Hale Funeral Home. The family will be at his home.
