Alston of 6347 Virginia Beach Blvd., formerly of 849 Rugby St., died Sunday in a hospital after a long illness. A native of Inez, N.C., he owned Alston's Esso Service Station here 48 years. He was a son of the late Taft and Mrs. Mary Alston and the husband of the late Mrs. Nannie T. Alston. He was a trustee of First Baptist Church, Bute Street, and member of Campbell Masonic Lodge 67. Surviving are two sons, Dr. George T. Alston and Leon A. Alston of Norfolk; a grandchild, and five great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Bute Street, by the Rev. E. Paul Simms. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Hale Funeral Home in charge.
