Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, May 18, 1999 
Lela Elizabeth ``Liz'' Alston of the 1700 block of Canton Ave. died May 15, 1999.

The widow of Harold Alston, she was a retired elevator operator for D.P. Paul
Jewelers. She was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she was a
member of the Sanctuary and Gospel Jubilee choirs. Mrs. Alston was a graduate of
Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1936.

She is survived by her mother, Lela Burden of Norfolk; and a host of other
relatives and many friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday at Antioch Missionary Baptist
Church, Norfolk, by Dr. I. Joseph Williams. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery ,
Norfolk. Family and friends will assemble at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Metropolitan
Funeral Service, Berkley Ave. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.
Thursday.
