Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, May 11, 1995 
Robert Alston Sr. of the 2200 block of Hanson Ave., slipped safely into the arms
of Jesus on Monday, May 8, 1995, in DePaul Medical Center.

He was a native of Littleton N.C., and son of Roberta and the late Norman
Alston. He moved to Norfolk in the early 1940s, where he later married his
devoted wife of 50 years, Johnnie Mae Alston. He retired from Colonial Stores
after working 36 years as a warehouseman. He was a faithful member of First
Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Male Usher Board (NU)2,
until his health began to fail.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Johnnie Mae Alston; his mother, Roberta Alston of
Fayetteville, N.C.; one son, Calvin Price of Sumter, S.C.; two sisters, Nora
Smith of Fayetteville, N.C. and Elizabeth Harris of Long Island, N.Y.; two
brothers, George Alston of Littleton, N.C. and Claude Alston of Baltimore; three
grandchildren, Reggie Price of Wichita Falls, Texas, Sanetta Holder of Sumter,
S.C., and Karen Price of Orangeburg, S.C.; one great-grandchild, Lola Price of
Wichita Falls; one god-son, Robert Moses; one special niece, Nichole Wescott;
and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in First Calvary Baptist Church,
Norfolk, by the Rev. Charles Springs. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The
family will assemble at 2229 Hanson Ave. The body will be placed in the church
at 10 a.m. Saturday. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
