NORFOLK - Bernice Y. Alston of 2525 E. Princess Anne Road, a native of Halifax
County, n.C., died Monday in her home.

She was a secretary at AAA Building and Plumbing Supply Corp. for eight years. Mrs.
Alston was a member of St. John AME Church, Cleo J. Hine Faith and Trust Tent 766
and Heroines of Jericho, Rock of Gibraltar Court 7. She was a worthy matron of Order
of the Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter 14.

Survivors include her husband, Booker T. Alston; a son, Joseph Young of Norfolk; two
sisters, Sandra W. Wilkins of Richmond and Vivian Page of Hillside, N.J.; and five
brothers, Louise H. Jones of Rocky Mount, N.C., Charles Jones of Philadelphia,
Bernard Jones and Octavis Jones, both of Jacksonville, Fla., and Andrew Jones of
Grimesland, N.C.

The funeral will be held at noon Saturday in St. John AME Church by the Rev. Walter
Davis. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with Hale Funeral Home in charge.
