He was the son of the late Saverio and Rosina Amato and was a native of Sicily, Italy. He was a member of Norfolk Council, Knights of Columbus and of the Sons of Italy. Mr. Amato is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vincie Sansone Amato; one daughter, Mrs. Frank B. Burton and one son, Savory Edward Amato, well known young Norfolk attorney. He also is survived by one sister, Mrs. Joseph Messineo of Lyndhurst, N.J.; one brother, Thomas Amato, of Norfolk; one grandchild, Frank B. Burton, Jr. and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. ******************************************************************************* STEPHEN AMATO - Funeral services for Mr. Amato, whose death occurred Tuesday morning at the residence, 1501 Bolling Avenue, were held at 10 o'clock Thursday morning at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Leo J. Ryan officiating. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Thomas E. Waters and Rev. J. O. Schmidhauser were present in the sanctuary. There was a large attendance and many floral offerings. The casket was covered with a pall of white chrysanthemums and fern. During the service, Mrs. Frank McLaughlin sang "Abide With Me," with Mrs. C. R. Davies, accompanist. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Fiorini, Sr., J. C. Addington, Thomas Spicuzza, E. L. Scully, W. L. Gunn, Joseph A. Console, Judge A. R. Hanckel, McCall Pate, Frank L. Delpino and Cleon J. Kyrus. Active pallbearers were George Karangelen, Lindsay Gunn, Vincent Ferlazzo, Jimmie Barnes, John Goodson, Jr., Ben H. Vetter, John Merget and James P. Higginson. Services at the grave were conducted by the Rev. J. O. Schmidhauser and the Rev. Leo J. Ryan.
