Ambrose died yesterday at the Soldiers' Home in Hampton in the 74th year of his age, after an illness of two years. He was a native of Washington county, North Carolina, but had made his home in South Norfolk 15 years prior to going to the Soldiers' Home, residing with his son, J.G. Ambrose in Chesapeake avenue, South Norfolk. He is survived by the following children, in addition to his son here: H.W. Ambrose of Conway, S.C.; Miss Caroline Ambrose, Washington, D.C.; Miss Sarah V. Ambrose, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Samuel S. Ambrose, Jacksonville, N.C. The funeral will be conducted at the apartments of E. Lee Cox, 402 Berkley avenue, this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock, and burial will be in the family lot in Magnolia cemetery.
