William W. Ambrose Sr., 83, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 21, 2004.
He was born in Jacksonville, N.C., and resided in Norfolk for the past 69 years.
He retired from civil service and the City of Norfolk. He was a member of
Oakwood Chapel Church Disciples of Christ. He was predeceased by his wife,
Charlotte Ambrose.
He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Araminta Foye (James) of Hubert,
N.C.; two sons, William W. Ambrose Jr. (Jacqueline) of Rialto, Calif. and Robert
Ambrose (Ann) of Chesapeake; a special and devoted friend, Patricia Foreman of
Norfolk; two brothers, Matthew Ambrose (Hattie) of Virginia Beach and Peter
Ambrose of Jacksonville, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at Oakwood Chapel Church Disciples of Christ, 982
Avenue E, Norfolk, on Monday at noon. A Christian wake will be conducted today
from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Riddick Funeral Home.
