Virginian-Pilot June 23, 1938
Suffolk, June 22 - William S. Ames, former resident of Suffolk and son of the late 
J. W. and Frances C. Ames, of Norfolk, died last night at 10:30 o’clock. The body 
was brought to the Funeral Home of R. W. Baker & Company here. 
Mr. Ames is survived by a son, Hilary Ames, and a grandson, Wesley Ames, of 
Norfolk; three brothers, R. L. Ames, of Richmond, Wainright and H. F. Ames, of 
Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Robert N. Baker, of Suffolk, Mrs. Mary Hinman, of 
Norfolk, and Mrs. Ernest Von L. Cherry, of Atlanta, Ga.
Funeral services will be at the grave in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk, at 4 o’clock 
Thursday afternoon.
