She was the wife of Benjamin Ames, a Norfolk native and lived in Portsmouth 40 years. She was an employe of R.W. Chapman Jewelry Co. She was a member of Cradock Methodist Church and Stonewall Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was the daughter of William Archer and Mrs. Willie Batten Walker. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sisters, Miss Willie Belle Walker and Mrs. Sylvester E. Hathaway Sr. of Portsmouth and Mrs. Thomas L. Minor of Lynnhaven. The body was taken in Snellings Funeral HOme. A funeral service will be held by the Rev. Lewis W. Darst Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk.
