He was a member of Epworth Methodist Church and of the Junior Order, United American Mechanics. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Carrie Wallace Ames; three sisters, Mrs. R.N. Baker, of Suffolk, Mrs. J.J. Hinman, of Portsmouth and Mrs. E. Van Lear Cherry, of Washington, D.C.; four brothers, W.S. and Harry F. Ames, of Norfolk, Wainwright Ames, of Portsmouth and Richard Ames, of Richmond. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the residence, with the Rev. T.A. Smoot, D.D., pastor of Epworth Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
