Mrs. Joyce Elizabeth Rascoe Amiss, wife of Rev. Joseph H. Amiss, died at 5:30
o'clock
o'clock yesterday morning at the family residence, 1317 Llewellyn Avenue, after 
an illness of two weeks. She was 70 years old. Mrs. Amiss was a native of 
Edenton, N.C., but had lived in Norfolk many years and was well known and 
esteemed. She was married 54 years, Mr. & Mrs. Amiss having celebrated their 
golden wedding four years ago. Rev. Mr. Amiss has been a member of the Virginia 
Conference Methodist Episcopal Church, South, for 59 years. Mrs. Amiss is 
survived by her husband and four daughters, Mrs. Jesse B. Price of Salisbury, 
Md.; Mrs. James B. Porter, Mrs. Walter F. Dusch and Mrs. Irma Amiss Hornthal, a
all of Norfolk.
The funeral will be held at the family residence at 3:30 o'clock tomorrow 
afternoon. Services will be conducted by Rev. W. H. Atwill, Rev. J. T. Bosman 
and Rev. W. P. Jordan. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
