James D. Anders died at the Norfolk Protestant Hospital Tuesday night after a 
brief illness in the 49th year of his age. He was a widely known citizen and a 
prominent building contractor. He is survived by a widow and three children: 
Clarence, Lucille and Flora Beverly Anders. Mr. Anders was a man of the most 
upright character in all his dealings, and had numerous friends in Norfolk. The 
funeral will be held at the residence in Larchmont, Friday at 3 o'clock p.m. 
and will be conducted by Rev. K. T. Greene of Larchmont M E Church, and Rev. 
George W. Swope of Central Avenue Baptist Church. The interment will be in C
Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Anders was a native of North Carolina, but had resided in this section for 
nineteen years. He was a member of the Maccabees.
