NORFOLK — Retired Norfolk Fire Capt. Charles William Anderson, of 3414 Argonne 
Ave., the husband of Mrs. Emma Barnes Anderson, died Monday morning in a 
hospital.
He retired after 44 years in the department.
A native of Greensboro, N.C, he lived here most of his life. He was a son of 
Charles William Anderson Sr. and Mrs. Ella Bowles Anderson.
He was a Methodist. He was a past master of George W. Wright Masonic Lodge 346, 
member of Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodes, Khedive Shrine Temple, American 
Association of Retired Persons, Tidewater Senior Citizens Club, Sixty-Plus 
Senior Citizens Club and honorary member of the Commodore Barber Shop Chorus.
Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. W. Baxter Burgess of Norfolk; 
a sister, Mrs. Mary Addison Robinson of Virginia Beach; and five grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Smith & Williams Funeral 
Home by Dr. Walker N. Stockburger and the Rev. Frank L. Rose. Burial, with 
Masonic rites, will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
