Virginian Pilot September 23,1956

Miss Blanche Whitehurst Anderson, 74, daughter of William A. and Ella Doughtrey 
Anderson, died yesterday at 5:45 a.m. at a Norfolk hospital.
She was a native of Portsmouth and a lifelong resident of this section, living 
at the Mary F. Ballentine Home at the time of her death.
She is survived by a nephew, Harrison S. Ackiss Jr. of Norfolk and a niece, Mrs. 
Ella Harris Shaner of Greensboro, N.C.
Services will be conducted at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tomorrow at 10:30 
a.m. by the Rev. Harold A. Malmborg, D.D., pastor of Freemason Street Baptist 
Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

NORFOLK – Funeral services for Miss Blanche Whitehurst Anderson, daughter of the 
late William A. and Mrs. Ella Daughtrey Anderson, who died Saturday at a Norfolk 
hospital, were conducted at the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments yesterday at 
10:30 a.m., by the Rev. Harold A. Malmborg, D.D., pastor of Freemason Street 
Baptist Church. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were M. M. Terrie, 
Oliver Wynne, Jr., George Van Leeuwen, Wingfield Brownley, Charles E. Arnold, 
Jr., and W. Herbert Nash.
