A native of Norfolk, she was a daughter of William Mordecai and Mrs. Eloise De Winter Cooke and the widow of Dr. Charles James Andrews. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Colonial Dames of America. At one time, she headed the Restoration Committee of the Garden Club of Virginia, during which time the gardens of the University of Virginia were restored according to Thomas Jefferson’s plans. She also participated in the restoration of the 17th century garden of the Adam Thoroughgood House in Virginia Beach. She is survived by two sons, Dr. Mason C. Andrews and Dr. William C. Andrews, and five grandchildren, Jean Alston Andrews, Elizabeth Randolph Andrews, Mary Mason Andrews, Susan Carrington Andrews, and William C. Andrews Jr., all of Norfolk. The body was taken to H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Andrew R. Bird Jr. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the President’s Fund, Garden Club of Virginia, 12 E. Franklin St., Richmond.
