He was a native of Norfolk and the son of Alfonso and Katie Willis Anthony. He was the husband of Alicetine Edlow Anthony. Mr. Anthony was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, after 35 years of service as an electrician. He was an Air Force veteran. Tom was an excellent athlete and played sports with the Battling Palms, Golden Cubs and the Killers in the old Rusty Dusty Softball League. In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory four daughters, Deborah A. Anthony, Thomasine Anthony Greene, Sandra S. Byrum and Rovonda M. Whitaker; three sons, Joseph Anthony, Tony D. Yancey and Thomas Anthony Jr.; three sisters, Loretta A. Weber, Ernestine A. Harrison and Rebecca A. Archer; two brothers, Luther Anthony and the Rev. Lonell Anthony. He will be sorely missed by his 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two aunts, an uncle, three sons-in-law; a daughter-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at C.H. Mason Church of God in Christ. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Service. The family will receive friends at the home of Alicetine E. Anthony, 1717 Joplin Lane in the Brandon section of Virginia Beach. The family will assemble and leave from 2823 Marlboro Ave. at 12:15 p.m. Saturday.
