Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - February 2, 1991

Luther L. Appleby, of the 2400 block of Barre St., a retired city employee, 
died Jan. 27, 1991, in his home.
Mr. Appleby, a native of Gainesville, Ga., had retired from the City of 
Norfolk's Solid Waste Department after 18 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Deveria Appleby of Norfolk; and four sisters, 
Mattie Williams of Donaldsonville, Ga., Sallie Marting of Gainesville, Dr. 
Sadye Young of Atlanta and Bessie Shackleford of Warren, Ohio.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Graves Funeral Home by 
the Rev. J.L. Kearney. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Friends may join 
the family at the residence.
