He had been engaged in the drug business on Bank Street for many years and was widely known and highly esteemed. His wife and two children survive him. Notice of the funeral will be given hereafter. *************** ARCHER - Wednesday night, February 3, 1897, at 10:15 o'clock, at his residence, 178 Duke Street, BURKE ARCHER, aged 59 years. Notice of funeral will be given later. The New Daily Pilot February 4, 1897 ****************************************************************************** The funeral of Mr. Burke Archer, who died at his residence, No. 178 Duke Street, Wednesday night, will take place from St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 1 p.m. today. The New Daily Pilot February 5, 1897 ****************************************************************************** At 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon the funeral of Mr. Burke Archer took place from St. Luke's Episcopal Church, being conducted by the rector, Rev. Arthur S. Lloyd. A large number of friends attended. The remains were interred in Elmwood Cemetery. The pallbearers were Dr. J.C. Byrnes, Maj. R.C. Taylor, Dr. Poindexter, Col. Starke, Hon. W.R. Mayo, Dr. B.M. Baker, Richard Bagnell and Capt. Whittle.
