Archer, 67, Retired Norfolk Lawyer NORFOLK - Charles G. Archer, 67, of 1540 Virginia Beach Blvd., retired attorney, died Wednesday at 10:20 p.m. in a Norfolk hospital after a short illness. A native of Norfolk, he was a son of Charles R. and Mrs. Ella Gardner Archer. He attended Norfolk public schools and Norfolk Mission College, Lincoln University (Pa.), Harvard Law School, and took his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He was a World War I veteran, a member of David King Bible Class of First Baptist Church, Bute Street, and member of Men's Progressive League, Omega Psi Phi fraternity. Surviving are four brothers, Richard B. Archer, James T. Archer, Dr. Edward R. Archer of Norfolk and John T. Archer of Canton, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Saunders, Mrs. Florence Wilson of Norfolk and Miss Cleo Archer of New York City. The body was taken to B.F. King Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in First Baptist Church by the Rev. H.T. Myers of Mt. Olive Baptist and the Rev. Richard B. Martin of Grace Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
