Archer Dies; Rites Are Held Miss Sarah L. Archer of 2708 Corprew avenue, Norfolk, died Thursday, January 27, at 3:30 a.m. She had been a semi-invalid for several years, and was sick several months. Funeral services were held Sunday at First Baptist church, Bute street, at 1:30 with the pastor, the Rev. E. Paul Simms, officiating. He was assisted by Father Richard B. Martin of Grace Episcopal Church. A native of Norfolk, Miss Archer was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Randolph Archer of Norfolk. She attended the old John T. West school. She was a member of First Baptist, Bute street over 30 years. Miss Archer is survived by one son, Callay T. Fitzbugh; two grandchildren, Delores Fitzbugh and Elaine Fitzbugh; six brothers, Dr. Edward Archer, James, Charles and Richard Archer all of Norfolk; John Archer of Canton, Ohio, and Walter Archer, New York City; four sisters, Mrs. Indiana Knight, Mrs. Ella Saunders and Mrs. Florence Wilson, all of Norfolk, and Mrs. Cleo Robinson, New York City and other relatives. Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Thomas Gardner of Gloucester County, Va.; James Edward Wilson, a nephew of New York City; Jerry Archer from Lincoln University, Mrs. India Gardner, and James Garner cousin, of Gloucester county, Va. Others attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Byrd Cosby of Gloucester county, Va. Burial was in Calvary cemetery with King's funeral home in charge of funeral arrangements.
