Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark April 26, 1931

M. W. Armistead, aged 71, died at a local hospital last night at 7 o'clock. He was 
a native of Portsmouth and a lifelong resident of this section. For the past 11 
years he has resided in Norfolk. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie F. 
Armistead; four daughters, Mrs. Harvie S. Baker, of Norfolk; Mrs. Ralph Dennett, 
of Philadelphia and the Misses Rebah and Ruth Armistead, of Norfolk; two sons, 
M.W. Armistead, Jr. and Henry Kirn Armistead and eight grandchildren. Funeral and 
interment will be private tomorrow.
