During the 1920s and 1930s, Mr. Armstrong was a pitcher for several Norfolk baseball teams, including the Norfolk Orioles. He was the owner of Acme Radio and Television Service, Norfolk, for 31 years. He was a past president of the Northside Civitan Club. Survivors include his wife, Jacques Barrett Armstrong; a son, Robert M. Armstrong, Jr. of New York City; a brother, William R. Armstrong III of Oriental, N.C.; two nieces; and a nephew. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. John T. LeGault Jr. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling arrangements.
