Norfolk Virginian Pilot November 5, 1948

Thomas Jefferson Arthur, 68, husband of Mrs. Harriette Coralie Arthur, and son 
of the late John Franklin Arthur and Mrs. Harriette Crider Arthur, died 
Wednesday at 5 p.m. at a Norfolk hospital.
Mr. Arthur was a native of St. Matthews, S.C. and had been a resident of Norfolk 
for 30 years, residing at 672 First View Street at the time of his death.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Harriette Coralie Arthur, he is survived by one daughter, 
Mrs. Violet Luggerio, of Norfolk; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Anne Caddell, of 
Birmingham, Ala.; one grandson, Sherman Luggerio, of Norfolk; four brothers, Dr. 
James Franklin Arthur, of Atlanta, Ga.; Oscar Lee Arthur, of Macon, Ga.; Chester 
A. Arthur, of Memphis, Tenn. and Capt. Joseph Nathan Arthur, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; 
two sisters, Mrs. Dosia Bozard, of St. Matthews and Mrs. Minnie Taylor, of 
Swansea, S.C.
Services will be conducted at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Saturday at 11 
a.m. by the Rev. W.W. Williford, of the VTC, YMCA. Burial will be in St. Mary's 
Cemetery.

Thomas Jefferson Arthur - Funeral services for Mr. Arthur, who died Wednesday, 
will be conducted at the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments today at 11 a.m. by the 
Rev. W. W. Williford, of the Virginia Transit Company YMCA.  Burial will be in 
St. Mary's Cemetery.
