Mildred was born on Oct. 3, 1945, to Charity Doyle Springs, and the late Charles Moody Springs Sr. Mildred was educated at Booker T. Washington High School, graduated from Norfolk State University and attended Long Beach State College and Old Dominion University. She recently retired from the Norfolk Public School System where she was affectionately known as ``The Math Doctor'', and was an educator for 34 years. She was a devoted member of First Calvary Baptist Church where she was a member of Usher Board No. 3. Mildred was also a member of Les Gems Social and Savings Club. Mildred leaves to cherish her memory three children, Tara C. Green, Lorenzo Artis Jr. and LaTeshia Artis ; grandchildren, Matthew and Genesis Green, all of Norfolk; a sister, Jennie Springs Amison and husband Craig of Harrisonburg, Va.; brothers, Charles M. Springs Jr. and wife Phyllis of Chesapeake, Herman E. Springs and wife Deborah of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Dr. Thomas E. Springs II of Virginia Beach and Dr. John L. Bennett Jr. of Virginia Beach. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dedicated friends are also left to mourn the loss of a beautiful loved one. A wake service will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Hale Funeral Home, 2100 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk. A funeral will be held at noon Wednesday in First Calvary Baptist Church, 813 Henry St., Norfolk. The family will assemble at 1523 Lafayette Blvd., Norfolk, the home of Dr. Renee Rodriguez. The family will receive friends at 824 Ringfield Road, Virginia Beach.
