(Money) Artis, of 1341 W. 38th St., a native of Rocky Mount, NC, died Thursday in a hospital. He had retired from a job at Sheller-Globe Corp. after 25 years. He was a member and former usher of First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point. Artis was also a member of Seaside Golf Association. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Greathel M. Artis; a daughter, Tammy L. Artis, and a son, Demetrius K. Griffin, both of Norfolk; a sister, Louise Artis of Philadelphia; and four brothers, Colonus Artis, Willie Alston and James Bland, all of Norfolk, and William Artis of Philadelphia. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point, by the Rev. M. I. Williams. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will be at Hale Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday. The body will be in the church at 10 a.m. Monday.
