Virginian Pilot Tuesday January 3, 1899

 Catherine E. Asbury, wife of Attorney J.C. Asbury, colored, of this city, died in 
Philadelphia Friday. The remains were brought to this city Sunday morning and the 
funeral was held later in the day from Norfolk Mission College on Princess Anne 
Avenue, Rev. H. Kirahan, principal, conducting the services. The interment was in 
Calvary Cemetery. W.M. Reed, George Braye, John A. Gray, Casper Titus, Pompey 
Reed, R.G. L. Paige and Drs. J.J. France and P.L. Barber acting as pallbearers.
